DELSU Embraces Electronic Voting For Conduct Of SUG Elections

Dean of Students’ Affairs, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Prof. Augustu Atubi, has disclosed that Students’ Union Government (SUG) elections of the university would be conducted electronically.
Speaking to our correspondent in an exclusive interview in Abraka, Atubi stated that ” From next academic session, students union election in this great citadel of academic excellence will no longer be paper work but electronic voting (Information Communication Technology).
“Students need not even come to elections ground to cast their votes, they can vote from the comfort of their hostels. And after the voting period elapses, the results will be declared online.
“I can assure that the university is working assiduously towards realizing this rare feat as all the softwares and hardwares required have been set in motion and I am convinced that with the level of progress made so far in this regard, it will come to reality.”
He hinted that as soon as the institution resumes for the 2018/2019 academic session, it would use the elections across the various faculties of the university to test run the electronic voting system in preparation for the Students Union Government election.
The dean of students’ affairs called on students to always remain committed to their academic pursuit, assuring that the students’ affairs division of the university remained committed to the welfare of students at all times and urged them to beckon on the division whenever they were experiencing challenges in the university.
