The Delta South chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will hold a mega rally in support of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the month of June.
This was part of decisions reached at the meeting of elected and appointed members of the party at Government House Annex Warri.
At the meeting a vote of confidence was passed on the Governor for massive development of the state in all sectors.
Addressing the people, the state Deputy Governor, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro, said the reception for Senator Okowa was to announce to the world the landmarks of the present administration and to prove to all that the Delta South Senatorial District was a stronghold of the PDP.
Barrister Otuaro thanked all PDP members in the state and the district for their maximum support and pledged government’s readiness to do more in terms of development and empowerment.
He said as election draws close, aspirants and their supporters should put the interest of the party above selfish goals, pointing out that with unity of purpose the party will regain the lost glories at the federal and other states it lost in the last general elections.
The Deputy Governor charged members of the various committees for the reception to put in their best to ensure that the occasion turned out to be the best for the Governor in recent times.
The Delta South Chairman of the party, Prince Emmanuel Agbamduba reiterated that Senator Okowa and Barrister Otuaro have done well in the governance of the state, emphasizing that the mega rally billed to take place at Oleh Stadium was to appreciate the Governor for turning the whole state to a construction site and for being a good ambassador of the PDP in all ramifications.
To all appointees from the district, Prince Agbamduba challenged them to sustain the empowerment of people of their wards and constituency as a way of letting the people feel the dividends of democracy in their lives.
He thanked members of the party from the district for their excellent performance in the last local government election and urged them to double the feat in next year’s general elections.
The Majority Leader of the state House of Assembly, Hon Tim Ohwefere gave assurance that the party will remain united and supportive of its members.
Hon Ohwefere moved a motion for a vote of confidence to be passed on Governor Okowa. He was supported by Hon Timi Tonye, before the pioneer speaker of the state Assembly, Hon Emma Okoro put the motion into a voice vote which was eventually unanimously adopted.
