Govt. Committed To Ensuring Continuous, Prompt Payment Of Bursary—Elder Sam Igumbor
The Chairman, Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Elder Sam Igumbor, has assured Delta State students in higher institutions both within and outside Nigeria of continuous and prompt payment of bursary by the state government.
Igumbor gave the assurance in Abraka, when he led staff and members of Board of Directors of the the scholarship board to the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka on a physical verification exercise.
He tasked the students to be sincere with processes leading to the payments beginning from the application stage to the stage of completion.
The chairman hinted that within the last two years, the board has achieved a lot, especially in ensuring that only qualified students benefit from the scheme. He appealed to students and other stakeholders to assist the board in whichever capacity to speed up the process.
Earlier, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Anigala, thanked the state government for the initiative and for making Delta State students have sense of belonging in the activities of the government.
He said that information at his disposal indicated that Delta State has been more consistent than other states in bursary payment to its students.
Also speaking, the Dean of Students’ Affairs of DELSU, Prof. Augustus Atubi, lauded the state governor for his commitment and consistency in payment of bursary to the students.
He averred that the amount, has, over the years, gone a long way in helping students of Delta State origin to meet some of their immediate financial needs. He assured the Board of DELSU’s continued support whenever the need arose.
