Nasarawa: Gunmen Storm Kana Town, Kill One, Abduct 10, Injure Many
Gunmen have stormed Kana Town in Nasarawa Local Government of Nasarawa State, killed one person, abducted 10 and injured many people.
Chairman of the local government area, Mohammed Sani Ottos, said, “It is confirmed that some gunmen stormed Kana town Monday night.
“They were well armed, scared the people after they fired several shots.
“I condemn the act.
“I have just visited the town to sympathise with the families of the slain, abducted and injured victims.
“I commend the Guards Brigade 177 Battalion, Keffi, who accompanied me to further build the villagers’ confidence and pledged to do all within their reach for safe return of the captives,” said the chairman.
Ottos said that the gunmen came from the Kana Hill and went back through the same route.
According to him, the hill stretched from Kana to Maraba Udege, Onda, Agwada, Nasarawa Eggon to Wamba towns and beyond to other states.
A witness said that a pregnant woman is among those kidnapped.
“We don’t know their whereabouts.
“There is a need for government to continue to provide maximum security of our lives and property,” he said.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, ASP Ramhan Nansel, said they were still gathering evidence.
