Many bank customers in the university town of Abraka, on Monday were restricted from accessing the banks due to the adherence of COVID-19.
Recall that banks have been directed to stick to the COVID-19 protocols, but this time around the case seemed to be different since those that were allowed in told our reporter that those in were lesser than the required number if it was an issue of abiding to COVID-19 protocols.
However most of the said customers were students of Delta State University, Abraka who were determined to pay the stipulated COVID-19 levy.
When our reporter visited one of the banks jn Ekrejeta, Abraka (name witheld), we gathered that the large turnouts of students at the banks was because of the commencement of the 2019/2020 examinations for 100 and 400 level students since they would not be allowed to seat for the exam without evidence of payment.

Speaking to Oasis Magazine (OM), some of the aggrieved customers who preferred anonymity, expressed their grievances since they expected the bank management to quickly attend to students so they can go to their exam halls.
Meanwhile, other customer’s transactions were put on hold so as to let students pay their levy.
A resident of the community and one of the bank customers on queue with no hope to be attended to expressed dissatisfaction with the preferential treatment given to students, it added that the slow pace yo attend to customers was frustrating, saying they also other things to attend to.
The case at the Ekrejeta axis was the situation observed in the other banks at different locations in the community.
At the time of filing this report, students were allowed into the bank following a particular order, but the crowd of customers outside the bank waiting to be attended to seems to be growing.
Attempts to speak to the management proved abortive as security operatives denied us access to the bank management.
