Uvwie Monarch To Honour Illustrious Indigenes

The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe 1, has promised to honour sons and daughters of Uvwie who brought honour to the area.

The Ovie made the promise in his speech while playing host to Professor Joseph Abugu over his recent appointment as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) at his palace in Effurun on Monday, December 28, 2020.

The monarch charged Uvwie youths to emulate those who brought honour to Uvwie, noting Abugu was the second SAN Uvwie Kingdom had produced, saying that the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Chief Fetus Keyamo, is the first Uvwie born SAN.

He urged Uvwie indigenes in corridors of power to always carry those they represent along, just as he declared Uvwie had embraced peace and that there was no going back on peace initiatives

“There is no meaningful development in the absence of peace ” he added.

The Uvwie monarch called on companies that deserted the area during youth restiveness to return, assuring that Uvwie was now safe and peaceful for investors,” he said.

He however appealed to companies operating in Uvwie Kingdom to always consider Uvwie indigenes for appointments and contract patronage.

“Uvwie is blessed with abundant human resources that occupy any position in the World,” he added.

The traditional ruler seized the opportunity to appreciate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over his patronage of Uvwie Kingdom.

He disclosed that Governor Okowa had been keeping to his annual pledge of five million naira to Abe 1 Scholarship Scheme

The ovie also appreciated the governor for the near completion of Effurun Technical School, which he said was a promise made by Governor Okowa to the Uvwie people.

He again hailed Governor Okowa for the appointments of Uvwie sons and daughters in his administration.

In his chat with news men after the event, Professor Joseph Abugu (SAN) expressed appreciation to the Uvwie monarch for the colourful reception, just as he said that it was an honour he would forever cherished.

The traditional mouth piece (Unuevworo) of Etche R’ Alegbo (traditional administrative unit) Chief Hope Akasa, who also spoke to journalists, lauded the ovie for his initiative of hosting the University of Lagos don.

He noted that the honour would spur other Uvwie indigenes to bring honour to the kingdom,” adding: “So that they would also be given such a red-carpet reception.”

A cross section of Uvwie Kingdom indigenes, including non indigenes living in Uvwie Local Government Area, attended the epoch-making event.
