BREAKING: Delta North APC Chairman Dumps Party For PDP
The State Vice Chairman, All Progressive Congress, APC, Delta State Caretaker Committee, Chief George Okafor, has dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that Delta APC has remained an unending battlefield without hope for respite in sight.
Advicate reports that Chief Okafor who is popularly known in the political circle as “Bad Major”, disclosed this in a letter of resignation dated June 22, 2021, circulating on social media addressed to the State Chairman, APC Delta State Caretaker Committee, led by Prophet Jones Ode Erue, citing an unending crisis in State chapter of the party as reason for dumping the party.
The Chairman, APC Delta North, in the letter, said; “I hereby tender my resignation from the position of Chairman, APC Delta North Caretaker Committee effective today, Wednesday, June 22, 2021; and by this notice, I also want to denounce my membership of the APC henceforth.
“My decision to quit the party is borne from inner convictions that Delta APC has remained an unending battlefield without hope for respite.
“However, I thank the party for providing me with the platform to serve and render civic obligations to my country.
Advocate.ng gathered that the dumping of APC by “Bad Major,’ who was recently gifted with Jeep by the former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei may not be unconnected to the move to make him politically irrelevant after the scheduled party Congress, as the leaders of the party in Delta North are looking beyond him for State Chairmanship of the party they are gunning for.
In a related development, the former APC chieftain, Chief George Okafor has defected to the ruling PDP, noting that his return to the party is a homecoming after 7 years of sojourn on the other side of the political battlefield, adding that “there is no place like home.”

According to Chief Okafor who returned to the PDP on Wednesday, his return to the PDP where he has gone on a sabbatical seven years in the opposition party was borne on the convictions that Delta APC will remain a battlefield without hope for respite.
“My return to the PDP after a sabbatical seven years in the opposition party, I would say, is an act of divine intervention.
“While on my sojourn, I rose to the position of Chairman, APC Delta North, which position I resigned effective yesterday, Wednesday, June 22, 2021, to return fully to my original family and home, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
My decision to quit the APC was largely borne from my inner convictions that Delta APC has remained an unending battlefield without hope for respite.
“In Delta APC, “Things Will Continue To Fall Apart”; I do not see them coming together even beyond 2023.
“Today, I feel good coming back home to where I am loved, respected and appreciated. I thank the PDP family in Delta State for holding forth and firm since 1999.
“I want to especially thank His Excellency the Governor for keeping the party together, both in the state and the national level.
“Once again, I think you all for receiving me back to the fold.”
Chief Okafor and over 5000 other APC faithful from Delta North in Aniocha and Oshimili Federal Constituency, were today, Thursday received into the PDP by the State Governor, Senator Dr Ifenayi Okowa, at Cenotaph, Asaba.
