BREAKING: APC Wins Ekiti Governorship Poll With 187, 057 Votes

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Biodun Oyebanji winner of the Ekiti State guber election held Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Oyebanj polled 187,057 votes to beat his closest rivals, Segun Oni, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who scored 82, 211 votes and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 67,457 votes.

The APC candidate won in 15 out of the 16 Local Governments Areas of the state, while the PDP candidate won in his Efon LGA.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Segun Oni, failed to win his own local government, Ido-Osi, in Saturday’s governorship election.

Mr Oni polled 9,489 behind Biodun Oyebanji of the APC who polled 10,321 and Bisi Kolawole of the PDP who garnered scored 2,871.

Ekiti has 16 local government areas. To be validly elected, the winner must poll the highest votes and have at least a quarter of the votes in each of at least 11 local government areas.
