Oborevwori’s Aide Cautions Urhobos Over Undue Pressure On Governor
By Daniel Dafe
An aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Billy Egbe, has cautioned Urhobo nation to allow Governor Sheriff Oborevwori be the governor of Delta State and not just Urhobo Nation.
Recall that some Urhobo indigenes consider the governor who is their kinsman to have failed them, citing the Okuama incident and other similar happenings in their territories.
Some of these critics of the governor’s stance on issues pertaining to the Urhobos, believe Oborevwori’s attitude has been one of nonchalance and cowardice.
But, Egbe, who defended his boss via a Facebook post on Monday, wrote: “For eight years that His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa was Governor, we hardly saw people from Delta North coming to social media all the time to make irritating posts and comments to the effect that the Governor should pay attention to only his senatorial district and forget about other parts of the state just because it was the turn of Delta North.”

He continued: “Sheriff Oborevwori is the Governor of Delta State and not the Governor of Urhobo State.
“We have to be careful not to pitch him against other senatorial districts, especially Delta North senatorial district with some of the infantile and ethnocentric comments some of us the Urhobos make online. Nor be only una dey social media.”
According to him, “if Governor Sheriff has to empower people, let him do that in his own wisdom and through God’s guidance and not through social media blackmail of “It is Urhobo turn”.
Furthermore, he said: “It is Urhobo turn and una nor gree give am majority vote.”
He noted that “if not for the votes from Delta North, APC would have won the election.”
“Allow Sheriff to be Governor of Delta State please,” he concluded.
