Kano State’s towering influence in national leadership was once again affirmed as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso emerged top honorees at the prestigious 10th Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony organized by Authentic News Daily, a renowned Kaduna-based publication.
This was contained in a statement issued by governor’s spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Thursday.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the historic Arewa House, Kaduna, will bring together high-profile dignitaries including Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is also slated to receive the “Authentic Woman of the Year” award.
Governor Yusuf will be conferred with the “Authentic Humanitarian Governor of the Year 2024” in recognition of his transformative leadership, unwavering commitment to social justice, and numerous grassroots development initiatives that continue to improve lives across Kano State.
Senator Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and former governor of Kano, will receive the “Authentic Politician of the Year 2024” award.
The organizers described him as a political icon whose enduring legacy of mentorship, service, and visionary leadership has reshaped the political landscape and empowered generations.
This year’s event, themed “Religion as a Tool for Peace and National Unity,” will feature a keynote address by General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff.
Distinguished thought leaders from Christian, Islamic, and government circles will also present papers, including Rev. Joseph John Hayab of CAN, Sheikh Halliru Abdullahi Maraya of the Global Peace Foundation, and NSA Nuhu Ribadu representing the government perspective.
Speaking on the nominations, the awards committee praised both Kano leaders for their “remarkable dedication to public good and unmatched service to humanity.”
They emphasized that the honors were the outcome of a rigorous evaluation of impact, character, and national relevance.
The recognitions of Governor Yusuf and Senator Kwankwaso not only underscore Kano’s continued prominence on the national stage, but also reflect a shared legacy of purpose-driven governance and visionary politics.
