By Akpobomeh Oghenerukevwe
Abraka, Delta State – A young man, popularly known as Samuel Marcus, has been shot dead in a suspected retaliatory attack near the railway station in Abraka, barely hours after the killing of four suspected Fulani kidnappers sent shockwaves through the community.
Preliminary reports indicate that Marcus and his brother, Aruoture were ambushed while driving through the railway corridor, a location previously flagged by residents as a dangerous zone, with a history of attacks and ambushes allegedly linked to suspected criminal elements.
The victim’s vehicle was found riddled with bullets, and Marcus was confirmed dead at the scene.
Details concerning his brother’s condition remain unverified as at the time of filing this report.
The development has raised concerns among locals, with many scared that this incident may be connected to the earlier incident involving the death of the four kidnap suspects, whose case went viral on social media earlier in the day.
Military personnel have since arrived at the scene, and the area has been secured to forestall further violence.
Investigations are ongoing, and the atmosphere in the community remains tense.
