Onoji Lauds Uvwie For Peace, Stability, Progress In PTI

The Principal of Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area, Dr Samuel Onoji, an engineer has lauded and appreciated Uvwie Kingdom for the peace, stability and progress in the institution .

He said this in his remarks during the courtesy visit of Uvwie General Improvement Union ( UGIU ) Worldwide on Thursday, 16th October, 2025.

Onoji who acknowledged that Uvwie Kingdom is the chief host to the federal government institution, stated that Uvwie Kingdom has been very kind to the institution.

He was full of praises for HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso ( JP ) OON Abe 1, the Ovie ( traditional ruler)of Uvwie Kingdom for his fatherly advice.

The Principal of PTI was also full of appreciation for the President General of Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU) Worldwide, High Abovi Hope Erute and the President General of Urhobo Progress Union ( UPU) Worldwide, Olorogun Ese Owe Gam for their support for his appointment as the substantive principal and Chief Executive Officer (CEO )of the institution.

He had earlier thanked the leadership of the apex socio-cultural body in Uvwie for the visit, as he stated that the visit will further strengthen the cordial relationship between the institution and Uvwie Kingdom.

The President General of UGIU Worldwide, High Chief Abovi Hope in his keynote address, explained that the main purpose of the visit was to congratulate Dr Samuel Onoji on his substantive appointment as the principal and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PTI by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ( BAT).

While appreciating PTI for its usual financial support for the annual Uvwie Day celebration, Erute quickly added that another reason for the visit was to seek for the institution’s financial support for this year’s Uvwie Day celebration billed for December 26, 2025.

The President General of UGIU Worldwide, explained that Uvwie Day is celebrated to project the identity of the Uvwie people and to also showcase the rich culture of the Uvwie people.

He therefore stated that there was a need to sustain the celebration of the Uvwie Day annually.

The establishment of revenue generation from PTI by UGIU was the third reason advanced by High Chief Abovi Hope Erute for the visit.

To this end, he humbly suggested that contracts should be awarded by PTI to the union on a regular basis.

Giving of job slots by PTI for Uvwie indigenes was the fourth reason advanced by Erute who is the Isirerha of Etche R’ Alegbo (traditional administrative unit) in Uvwie Kingdom for the visit.

The Principal of PTI, Dr Onoji, in his response to these requests, promised that the institution will continue to support UGIU within its financial limits in the celebration of the Uvwie Day as its corporate / social responsibilities.

He therefore requested that a formal letter should be addressed to the institution for the request.Pronto, the letter was presented to him by the President General of UGIU Worldwide High Erute.

Responding to UGIU’s request for contract awards ,the Principal/ CEO of PTI complained that the institution is presently confronted with the issue of finance.

He however requested that the union should register formally as a contractor to the institution and that UGIU will be favourably considered for awards of contracts when there is an opportunity for contract awards.

Similarly, the Principal of PTI also assured that Uvwie indigenes will be employed if there is an opportunity for employment in the institution.

In his vote of thanks, the Okpara Inland born Isaac Fregene, Registrar of PTI, suggested that an endowment fund be established by UGIU in order to boost the funds of the union.
