Fresh Students Rejoice As DELSU Announces Date For 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony

Newly admitted students of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, have expressed excitement and relief following the announcement of an official date for the institution’s matriculation ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In memo issued by the institution’s Public Relations unit, the university management confirmed the ceremony will hold on Saturday, February 14, bringing clarity to thousands of newly admitted students who had been anxiously awaiting official induction into the academic community.
This medium reports that the announcement marks a significant milestone for freshers, as matriculation formally recognises them as bona fide students of the university.
In a chat with our reporter, many students described the development as a welcome relief after weeks of uncertainty.
According to them, the fixed date allows them to finalise preparations, including accommodation arrangements, payment of fees and academic planning.
“I’m really happy about this announcement. It feels good to finally know when we’ll be officially recognized as DELSU students,” said Miss Becky Abraham, from the Faculty of Social.

Mrs Angela Oluwaseyin have also welcomed the decision, noting that a clear academic schedule helps them plan better for their wards’ education and welfare.
Master Tejiri, a student of Library and Information Science, praised the university management for the timely communication, urging fresh students to comply with all matriculation requirements and maintain discipline as they begin their academic journey.
The matriculation ceremony is likely expected to be held on the 14th of February, 2026, inside the school campus and conducted in line with the university’s regulations and rules, with attendance mandatory for all newly admitted students. Further details regarding the venue and guidelines has been printed and stated on a memo where all students are now fully aware.
With the fixed date now confirmed, the DELSU campus is already buzzing with anticipation as fresh students look forward to formally joining the institution’s academic community.
