Partner Universities To Promote Training Of Future Professionals, UNIDEL VC Tells ESVARBON, Others

The Vice chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor, Prof Stella Chinye Chiemeke, has called on professional bodies to partner with universities to promote the training of future professionals who will sustain their legacies of improved service delivery in the interest of national growth and development.

The Vice Chancellor made the call on Wednesday in the Owa Alero Campus of the university while receiving over five million naira worth of professional books and journals donated to the university by the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON).

Prof Chiemeke, who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Patrick Ijeh, expressed deep appreciation over the laudable gesture of ESVARBON and called for more support from it and other professional bodies.

The Vice Chancellor paid glowing tribute to the contributions of the Delta State Government, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Zenith Bank and other well-meaning philanthropists to the monumental strides of the young university and called on other professional bodies and other philanthropists to emulate ESVARBON, while assuring that the books and other donations to the University will be put to good use.

In a covering letter conveying the donation of the books, the Registrar of the Board, Esv Janeth Shehu, said the gesture was in response to a request made to the Board by the university. The Registrar pointed out that the donation included one hundred and three textbooks and journals of thirty-four titles in various fields of study in the Estate Surveying and Valuation Profession and that they are donated to the University of Delta, Agbor, for the use of students in the Department of Estate Management, as part of the Boards commitment to the professional training and certification of future practitioners.

Present to receive the books were the Dean of Environmental Sciences, Prof Osa Egonwa, and the HOD of Estate Management, Dr David Mbazor.
