Ajede Backs Ukwuani Youth Peace Initiative, Pledges Support For Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad

The Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. C.S. Possible Ajede (PhD), has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development and community security as he received leaders of the Ukwuani Youth Forum and members of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) Vigilante Group at his office.

The Ukwuani Youth Leaders paid a courtesy visit to the council chairman to seek sponsorship for their Annual Seminar themed “Strategic Peace and Security for Peaceful Coexistence,” scheduled to hold from July 28 to 29, 2026. The programme is expected to attract over 1,000 participants from across the local government area.

Speaking during the visit, the Public Relations Officer of the forum, Comrade Felix Ochor, said the group remains committed to sustaining the prevailing atmosphere of peace, harmony, and unity in Ukwuani communities. He noted that the role of young people in peacebuilding and the promotion of peaceful coexistence has become increasingly important in recent times.

Ochor explained that the forum seeks to reinforce positive values, encourage obedience to government laws, and promote responsible citizenship among youths and teenagers through continuous reorientation and sensitisation programmes.

According to him, the proposed seminar is designed to address youth-related security challenges through education, dialogue, and public awareness, while also mentoring the next generation and contributing to a safer and more cohesive Ukwuani Local Government Area.

The youth leaders also commended Barr. Ajede for his consistent support over the years, describing him as a strong pillar behind the successes recorded by the forum.

Responding, Barr. Ajede praised the initiative and pledged to do his best to support the seminar, emphasizing that programmes promoting peace and unity deserve encouragement.

In a separate meeting, the council chairman also received members of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) Vigilante Group, led by Comrade M. Friday.

Explaining the purpose of the visit, Comrade Friday said the STS is a specialised intelligence-driven unit made up of selected vigilantes who have undergone advanced training to combat kidnapping and terrorism. He added that the team plans to recruit additional qualified vigilante members to form a 50-man squad for more effective security operations across the local government area.

Barr. Ajede commended the initiative and reiterated his unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.
