Gov Zulum Wins 2019 Zik Prize For Leadership
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has won the 2019 Zik Prize for Leadership.
A member of the prize’s Board Prof. Pat Utomi, who announced this on Thursday, described Zulum as a revolutionary governor who has become one of Nigeria’s most accomplished leaders within a short period.
He won the prize for displaying good governance, according to a statement by Media and Public Relations (PR) practitioner, Isa Gusau.
Utomi, who addressed reporters via Zoom, spoke on behalf of an advisory board of Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC), which is chaired by Prof. Jubril Aminu, a former minister and senator.
The board has Prince Emeka Obasi as its Executive Secretary, while members include Prof. George Obiozor, Chief Marc Obara, Chief Tola Adeniyi, Alhaji Abdulazeez Udeh and Utomi.
Utomi listed Senate President Ahmed Lawan; Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; frontline businesswoman, Dr. Stella Okoli; renowned academic, Prof. Umar Dambatta and Kennedy Nduka, as other winners in various categories of public service, business and professional leadership.

The Nation reports that Utomi also listed governors Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) in same ‘good governance’ category with Zulum as winner.
The presentation is scheduled for December 6.
Utomi eulogised the governor, saying his performance had made him the toast of Nigerians from all parts of the country.
Zulum is the first governor to win the Zik Prize for Leadership while serving his first term. Other governors who won in previous years did so during second term in office.
The Zik Prize for Leadership has become one of Nigeria’s prestigious awards, given the credibility of advisory board members of the PPRAC, who are notable personalities with background from the academia.
