JUST IN: Gunmen Attack Police Checkpoint In Delta, Kill Two, Steal Two Rifles

A policeman and a civilian were on Friday shot dead when gunmen invaded a police checkpoint at Eku in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Oasis Magazine (OM) learnt that three policemen were on duty when the incidence happened at about 9p.m.
According to sources, the civilian that was killed is in charge of lighting the police lamps every evening.

The gunmen who drove in a picnic car shot sporadically as they approached the police officers.
Two of the policemen who were on duty ran to safety, as the attackers carted away with two police rifles.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incidence.
She said that the slain police officer was shot on the head, adding that the civilian was shot twice and died at the hospital.
Furthermore, she said the police lost a rifle and not two as claimed by our sources.
We were yet to get the name of the murdered police officer from her at the time of filing this report.
