Suspected Assassin Kills Vigilante Member In Sapele

Gunmen suspected to be assassin Tuesday night killed a local vigilante, 38 years old, Omile Chukwudi, in Sapele, Sapele local government Area of Delta State, Advocate News reports.
The Delta State Police Command which today confirmed the killing of the vigilante said he was allegedly shot severally at close range at about 12:30 am, while he was on patrol in the Urban area part of Sapele.
Our reporter who visited the area gathered that the assailants of the late Chukwudi, through his neighbourhood before firing at him at a close rage, a source told ADVOCATE.
“He was shouting for help and we heard his footsteps while running and the next thing we heard was gunshots and he was screaming before everything went quiet again,” the source added that before help could get to him, he was dead.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Onome Onowakpoyeya said “yes, a local vigilante was shot dead at the Urban area part of the town and the police are making efforts to arrest the perpetrators”
A police source at the Sapele police station, who craved anonymity, confirmed the killing adding that “We have deposited the corpse at the Sapele General Hospital.”
