Retired Brigadier-General Installed Otota Of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom

A retired Brigadier – General in the Nigerian Army, Gold Eburu, has been installed as the Otota (traditional mouth piece) of the Urhobo Kingdom of Okere in Warri South Local Government Area.

Confirming the news in an interaction with our correspondent in Warri on Wednesday, January 21, 2021, the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Ono Okumagba (JP), explained that the retired military personnel was the most suitable candidate for the traditional chieftaincy position.

While congratulating Retired General Eburu on the appointment, Okumagba 11 advised the new Otota of Okere to work for the entire kingdom and not for any particular lineage’

“He should work for the growth of the entire kingdom,” he stated.

On his part, Chief Gold Eburu, who spoke exclusively with our correspondent on his installation, expressed deep appreciation to the royal father, just as he pledged his loyalty to him.

He also promised to carry everybody along in the discharge of his duties and to work for the overall development of the area.

While describing the Okere Urhobo monarch as a visionary king, he called on the few dissenting voices to sheath their swords and join hands with Okumagba 11 in taking kingdom to greater height.

He was also full of praises for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his patronage for Okere Urhobo Kingdom.

Some Okere Urhobo people who spoke to our correspondent on the installation of the new Otota, expressed joy as they remarked that his installation was a wise decision by, Okumagba 11.

Retired Brigadier General Eburu, before his installation as the Otota of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, holds the title of Ejoyovwi of Okere Urhobo Kingdom and he is a descendant of Makro Family, one the five major families in Okere Urhobo Kingdom.
