Delta NUJ Hails Oboreh’s Appointment As DESUTEC VC
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has congratulated Prof. Jacob Oboreh on his appointment as Vice Chancellor (VC), Delta State University of Science and Technology.
A statement signed by Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, NUJ Chairman, Delta State Council and Comrade Patrick Ochei,
NUJ Secretary, Delta State Council, said “the Union is not surprised that an academician of Oboreh’s status was appointed to head the newly created University,” adding that “it only shows that the Government of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa knows how to reward hardwork and due diligence.”
The statement added: “We make bold to state that Professor Oboreh deserves the appointment, being eminently qualified and having distinguished himself in his previous assignment as the Rector of the then Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro.”
“Based on his intimidating achievements, NUJ then presented him with a Distinguished Excellence Award as a way of recognising, encouraging and motivating him to keep the good work going.

“From the appointments made by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the newly established State Universities, Prof. Oboreh is singled out as a man that needs no screening for the job, because his previous record still speaks volume.
“Therefore, we commend the Governor for this square peg in a square hole appointment,” Delta NUJ added.
Furthermore, the Union urged Prof. Oboreh “to surpass his past record and further bring good governance and discipline within the academic citadel.”
