Man Commits Suicide In Agbor

An usher with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Freedom Hall parish, popularly addressed as “Pastor”, identified as Henry Jegbe, has reportedly hung himself in Agbor, Ika south local government area of Delta State.

The Storyng.com reports that trouble started on Saturday, July 17th 2021, when residents of Iregwa Street, off Ojeifoh Street and Upper Queen Lane woke up on that fateful morning to see the sacrilegious act of a man who committed suicide by hanging.

Since the abominable act, other occupants of the compound where he lived have deserted the area.

It was gathered that the middle-aged man who was an Usher at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was accused of having carnal knowledge of his neighbour’s minor daughter, a situation that made him to take his life.

A resident, who did not want the name on print, said they woke up that fateful morning to hear that Henry Jegbe, has committed suicide by hanging which attracted the people in the neighbourhood and passersby for sightseeing.

According to source, “It’s sacrilegious for Henry Jegbe to have taken his life by hanging. The deceased was suspected to have ended his life as he can no longer bear the shame of allegedly having carnal knowledge of his neighbor’s female child (minor) and which was discussed at the community palace.

“Late Henry Jegbe is somebody who is not free with people to tell who he is. We call him pastor because we felt he is one.

“But the news of him sleeping with the female child of his neighbour is what we do not understand and now he has ended his life out of shame”, the source stated.

It was gathered that the late Henry Jegbe hailed from Esan Community in Edo State.

It was also learnt that late Henry Jegbe was an usher and not a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God as insinuated in some quarters but dedicated to the service of God.

Meanwhile, the remains of late Henry Jegbe have been taken to the mortuary by the policemen from Agbor Police Divisional Headquarters for further investigation.

Contacted, the Ag. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, said: “Not aware sir”.
