BREAKING: DTSG Orders Okada, Keke Riders To Be Registered, Restricts Time Of Operation From 6A.M To 9P.M

Governor of Delta State, Sen (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa has directed all motorcycle (okada) and tricycle (keke) operators in the state to be registered and captured in the ongoing biometric registration exercise.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, on Tuesday, added that the said exercise commenced since May, 2021, adding that any rider that fails to do these “risks being banned from plying the roads within Delta State, from 31st January, 2022.”

According to the statement, “the operational hours for okada and keke operators in the state henceforth be restricted to the period of 6.00a.m. to 9.00p.m. daily.”

The Okowa administration warned that only registered operators on essential and emergency duties with proof of valid means of identification exempted outside the stipulated period,” saying “that anyone found in violation of this order would be subject to the full weight of the law.”
