Novelty Football Match: DELSU Alumni National Exco Defeats Branch Chairmen

The Novelty match between National Executive of Delta State University Alumni and Branch Chairmen of the Alumni ended in penalty shoot-out as the National Executive defeated the Branch Chairmen 5:4.
The Novelty Football Match played at the University sports complex, as part of programmes lined up for the 30th anniversary and 14th convocation ceremony of DELSU.
First and second half of the match ended goalless, hence the penalty shoot-out with the National President of the Alumni, Comrade Igbuwe O. Joseph scoring the last penalty to crown the National Executive team winner of the Novelty match.
Speaking during the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga, who was represented by Prof. Elo Ibagere, Provost of Oleh Campus, said the Vice Chancellor is passionate about the development of sports in the University.

In his words: “I want to commend DELSU Alumni National Executive and all members of the Alumni for your contribution to the development of the University. I however pray God to grant you the resources to contribute more to the development of Delta State University.
“I want to assure you all that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga is passionate about the development of sports in the University. There is an arrangement on ground by the Vice Chancellor to make this Football pitch a standard one, including the one in site one of the University.
“However, as Oliver Twist, we are asking the Alumni to support the University in whatever we are doing in order to move the University forward. There should be synergy between the Alumni and University and I assure you that the Vice Chancellor will leave a lasting legacy in the University.”
