Gov. Adeleke Receives Report Of Committee On Staff Audit, Appointment, Promotion Review

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke today received the report of the Committee on Staff Audit, Appointment and Promotion Review.

The report briefing which was held at the State Government Secretariat complex, Abere had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Head of Service, Mr Ayanleye Aina and top political functionaries.

Receiving the report, Governor Adeleke thanked the Committee for doing a great job and for making themselves available to serve the State.

He decried the lacadesical attitude of the last administration to civil service, noting that many things have to be reviewed.

The Governor therefore promised to study the reports and the accompanying recommendations with a view to issuing a white paper on it.

Senator Adeleke charged the Committee not to hesitate in making further necessary recommendations.

While presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Muyiwa Oladimeji appreciated the Governor for the opportunity to serve.

He noted that the Committee, upon thourough investigation, discoverd that apart from Osun State University, all other tertiary institutions in the State engaged more of part-time staff than full-time staff and admit more part-time Students more than the full-time Students which gave room for fraudulent act by paying them a meagre amount of money as salaries that is below their qualifications and job, knowing full well that Government is only concerned about the full-time staff and students.

He then urged Governor to act on this illicit behavior.

While speaking, the Secretary of the Committee, who was also a retired Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service, Dr. Olayinka Oderinde said the Committee painstakingly looked at the Civil Service rules in the State and discovered that there are lots of alien imported numenclature in the Civil Service by past administrations which are begging for correction.

She stressed further that the committee received about 129 petitions out of which about 65 were from civil servants on lack of due promotions, among others.

She disclosed that recommendations have been made to the Governor to ensure all anomalies are corrected.
