Edo State’s Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has announced a significant achievement, exceeding N10 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the month of January 2025.

This landmark figure was revealed by the Executive Chairman of the EIRS, Hon. Oladele Bankole-Balogun, during visits to the Edo State Commissioner of Police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Hon. Bankole-Balogun attributed the success to the leadership of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo and the EIRS Board’s focused mandate to boost IGR for state development projects, aligning with the state’s five-point agenda.

Seeking to maintain this momentum, the EIRS Chairman solicited the collaboration of security agencies.

He specifically requested the support of the Edo State Police Command, led by CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, the state’s first female Commissioner of Police, in ensuring tax compliance and enforcement.

CP Otimenyin expressed her appreciation for the EIRS’s contribution to state development and pledged the command’s full cooperation.

Hon. Bankole-Balogun also extended a similar request for partnership to the DSS, emphasizing the importance of their support for the EIRS’ ongoing operations. The DSS Director’s office has reportedly agreed to collaborate with the EIRS.

This unprecedented IGR collection demonstrates a significant step forward for Edo State’s financial standing and underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in achieving sustainable economic growth.
