The Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has sacked the 180 aides he recently employed.

According to sources, in a letter titled “Disengagement From Service,” he said: “I want to express my deepest gratitude to you for your unwavering dedication and commitment to our office and the people of Delta South Senatorial District. Your contributions so far have been instrumental in delivering our mandate, and I am truly thankful for your service.”

He continued: “However, as part of our broader restructuring efforts, I regret to inform you that your appointment as an aide will come to an end on 8th March, 2025. Please know that this decision wasn’t made lightly, and I appreciate your understanding.

“As we move forward, new opportunities will arise, and we shall be making fresh appointments subsequently. I wish you all the best.”

“Please, kindly submit your ID Cards and every other official documents in your possession to the head of your department. Your respective complimentary cards are now invalid.

“Thank you again for your tireless efforts.

“Best regards,” the letter concluded.

Meanwhile, a Facebook post by Fejiro Oliver revealed that the appointment of the said aides was structured in three categories.

He wrote: “Ward Representative referred to as Technical Assistant ( N20,000)

“LGA Representative referred to as Special Assistance ( N40,000)

“The rest of them with nomenclature like SA to the Senator on Gas etc are being paid (N50,000)

“LGA Laison Officers (N70,000)

“Special Advisers (100,000)

“All making up the 180 appointees.”
