Amaechi Rejects ADC Presidential Primary Results, Alleges Widespread Disenfranchisement

Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the results of the presidential primaries conducted by the African Democratic Congress, describing the outcome as “concocted.”

Amaechi, in a statement issued after the exercise, alleged that the primaries were marred by widespread voter disenfranchisement across most parts of the country.

He stated that he had earlier made it clear that he would only accept the outcome of the primaries if the process was free, fair, and transparent, insisting that he still stands by that position.

According to him, the results being announced do not reflect the values the party promised Nigerians in its quest to provide an alternative platform capable of rescuing the country from what he described as impunity and gross mismanagement by the ruling party.

Amaechi alleged that about eighty percent of party members were allegedly denied the opportunity to vote during the exercise, questioning the credibility of the process.

He further argued that a political party that criticizes the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Independent National Electoral Commission over allegations of vote buying, rigging, and result manipulation should not be involved in similar practices.

The former Rivers State governor maintained that electoral malpractices and the disenfranchisement of party members were unacceptable and contrary to the ideals upon which the ADC was founded.
