2027: Ogboru’s Appointed Time To End Serial Contests, Break Circle Of Governance, Transform Delta — ADC Spokesman

The Delta State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that the 2027 governorship election represents what it described as God’s appointed time for its governorship candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, to end his long series of governorship contests, break what it termed the “circle of governance” in Delta State, and usher in a new era of development.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Fred Akpewe, made the declaration while speaking with journalists at the ADC State Secretariat. He argued that for more than three decades, Delta State has remained under the control of the same political establishment, resulting in little change in the state’s governance structure.

According to Akpewe, although successive administrations have adopted different slogans and policies, many of the fundamental challenges facing the state have remained unresolved.

He listed poor infrastructure in many communities, youth unemployment, declining industrial productivity, inadequate healthcare, and concerns over transparency and accountability among the persistent issues confronting Deltans.

He stated that effective governance requires citizens to embrace credible alternatives whenever an existing model consistently fails to deliver the expected results.

“Progress is achieved not by repeating the same approach, but by embracing fresh ideas, innovative leadership, and a new philosophy of governance,” he said.

Akpewe described Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru as a credible alternative to the current political order, noting that the ADC governorship candidate built his reputation in the private sector, where efficiency, accountability, innovation, and measurable results are essential for success.

He expressed confidence that Ogboru’s experience in business and administration would translate into effective governance capable of repositioning Delta State for sustainable economic growth and development.

The ADC spokesman stressed that the party’s campaign is not merely about replacing one political figure with another but about changing the entire governance model.

According to him, the party seeks to replace what it described as an overly political system with one driven by competence, productivity, prudent management of public resources, transparency, and inclusive development.

Akpewe further noted that every successful democracy thrives on the availability of credible alternatives, adding that when a particular approach has failed to produce the desired outcomes over an extended period, another should be given a fair opportunity.

He maintained that the call for change should not be viewed as a rejection of the past but as an opportunity for the state to embrace innovation, learn from previous experiences, and pursue a new direction.

“As Delta State prepares for the 2027 governorship election, the conversation should move beyond political loyalty and focus on the leadership model that is best equipped to unlock the state’s enormous economic and human potential,” he said.

Akpewe concluded that many Deltans are asking a simple question: if the same governance formula has not delivered the transformation the state desires after decades, why not give a different model a chance?

He said Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru’s candidacy offers the opportunity to test a new vision, a new style of leadership, and a new direction for the overall development of Delta State.
