“Nigeria Will Never Be An Islamic Nation” — Pastor David Ibiyeomie Condemns Reported Move To Restrict Bus Preaching

The founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has strongly criticized reports of a proposed restriction on preaching in commercial buses, describing the alleged policy as “a stupid law” and insisting that Nigeria must continue to uphold religious freedom for all citizens.

Speaking during a church service, the cleric argued that Christians should enjoy the same rights as adherents of other religions to publicly practice and express their faith.

“We want peace. Allow Christians alone. As we allow Muslims, also allow Christians,” Ibiyeomie said.

The pastor questioned why Christians would be prevented from preaching the Gospel in public if members of other religious groups are allowed to openly express their beliefs, stressing that the issue was one of equal treatment and constitutional freedom of religion.

He warned against any action that could undermine Christianity in the country, declaring that he would continue to oppose any attempt to suppress the preaching of the Gospel.

“I will never be alive to see Christianity being humiliated in Nigeria,” he stated.

Pastor Ibiyeomie also urged Christian leaders not to remain silent on issues affecting the faith, saying they should boldly speak out regardless of criticism or public opinion.

Beyond the issue of public preaching, the pastor called on government authorities to focus on addressing Nigeria’s security and economic challenges while safeguarding every citizen’s constitutional right to freely practice and propagate their religion.

Reaffirming his position, Pastor Ibiyeomie declared that Nigeria should remain a nation where people of all faiths enjoy equal rights and freedom of worship, concluding:

“Nigeria will never be an Islamic nation.”
