By John Tega
The Abraka Division of the Nigerian Police Force, has launched a manhunt for the killers of an 18-year-old lady, Favour Ogheneyenrowho Sunday, in Abraka.
According to police sources, the body of the deceased was recovered some days ago from a dumpsite behind Ozoro Park in the town during the early hours of the day.
The corpse was found tucked inside a Ghana-must-go bag at the said dump site.
The deceased hails from Ughere in Abraka community of Ethiope East Local Government Area, and was an apprentice in a fashion house in Abraka.
Information gathered showed that the body was still fresh at the time it was discovered and marks of violence were seen around her neck which suggests strangulation. Her pubic hair was also shaved.
Relatives of the deceased have continued to troupe in to the police station to find out the circumstances surrounding the death of Favour.
Late Favour’s elder sister, Maureen Sunday, told the police that before the death of her sister, a call from a male at about 10 a.m. requested that she should come and meet him at Abraka park to which she replied that she was going to the market with her elder sister.
According to her, on their way out of their residence in Winners Road, a guy which she has never seen before (who she believes was the same person that called earlier) boarded a bike that stopped at the Winners junction.
A short conversation occurred between the said boy and her sister and thereafter, she (Favour) joined him on the bike and they both zoomed off, as she warned her to return back early the same day.
The following day, she was shocked to find out that her sister who did not return back home that day was found dead and tied with strong ropes in a sack.
However, she said she was sure to identify him if she comes across him.
The police consider the matter as a murder case and as at the time of filing this report, police investigation was still ongoing.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited in a morgue in Abraka.
In a related development, reports reaching us show that two robbers, Uchenna Ezekonyi and Mbachu Sunday, aged 27 and 30 respectively, have died after they were thoroughly beaten up by a mob after an unsuccessful robbery operation in Abraka recently.
They are both from Oguta in Imo State.
According to their confessions they have been into the crime of monitoring bank customers that come to withdraw money and trail those that they perceive have withdrawn huge sums of money and dispossess them of the cash.
They said they also carry out such operations in Asaba and other places.
Reports have it that the two culprits traced a Zenith Bank customer, Emoghene Moses, who withdrew the sum of N250, 000 belonging to the parish priest in charge of Sacred Heart Catholic Church from Zenith Bank PLC, Abraka.
The money was meant to be used for the coming youth programme in the church which was conspicuously situated opposite Campus 2 of Delta State University, Abraka.
On the said day, they snatched the nylon bag that contained the sum, but an alarm from the victim drew symphatisers who gave them a hot chase that led to their apprehension.
Angered by their activities, a mob beat up the culprits that left them with various degrees of injury.
The culprits, we learnt, died on the way while they were been rushed to the hospital by the police to get medical attention.
