The leadership of Hostcom Youth Wing Urhobo Ethinic Nationality, Comrade Sweet Itiotio, has called on President Muhamadu Buhari to swear in Dr Pius Odubu and chief Bernard Okumagba-led board for the NDDC to function efficiently and optimally.

Comrade Sweet Itiotio, the Hostcom Urhobo Ethnic Nationality leader who spoke in Asaba the Delta State capital during the weekend asserted that since the duo have been cleared by the Senate, and there are a plethora of cases pending that are challenging the unconstitutional arrangement of the sole administrator appointment, the most honorable thing to do now is to swear in the nominated and already cleared board members especially the Chairman and the MD in the person of Pius Odubu and Bernard Okumagba.

According to Comrade Sweet Itiotio, it is unimaginable that the presidency which nominated the substantive board members in making could choose to swim against the tide by throwing aside the spirit and letters of the Act which brought NDDC into existence, wherein it is clearly stated that the Commission shall be managed by Board Chairman and MD respectively, adding that the issue of Sole Administrator is alien to the Act of parliament which established the NDDC.

Comrade Sweet Itiotio compassionately appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to look into the issue and tow the path of justice by doing everything within the ambit of the law which birthed NDDC as an interventionist agency of government to develop the Niger Delta region instead of subjecting it to political power play without benefit to the people.

Comrade Itiotio strongly observed that it is not proper to weaken our institutions by throwing up strong individuals who are ready to mutilate the system. Our governments, should instead learn to follow the law and due process so that NDDC can meet the objective for which it was established.

He emphatically remarked that, if people are allowed to do whatever they feel like doing from the spore of the moment, we are sure to get to the point when our laws will be trashed to the detriment of the masses.

Itotio pointed out that any nation which refuses to take her laws seriously is bound to trotter in the pangs of underdevelopment laden with the mire of corruption.

Itiotio reaffirmed in his statement that the best way for the NDDC to move forward is to bring on board the Pius Odubu and Bernard Okumagba board which according to him will be better positioned to change the narratives of both the NDDC as an Agency and the suffering masses of the Niger delta region.

The well-known Niger Delta humanitarian right defender charged all stakeholders particularly the Senate which cleared Odubu and Okumagba to transmit to the presidency in clear terms that the office of the sole administrator is not known any were in the Act which brought NDDC to life.

He insisted that lawlessness is an invitation to failure and anarchy which are twin problems that must be avoided by any government that is willing to make reasonable impact on her people.

Comrade Itiotio conclusively stressed that since illegality begets illegality, it will be instructive to stem the tide now by bringing in the cleared board members to put the issue of power tussle and to rest in NDDC so that the accelerated development of the Niger Delta can continue unabated.
