May Iyasere: We Have Lost A Mother, Says Akpowowo

Commissioner for Urban Renewal in Delta State, Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo, has expressed shock and sadness over the demise of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief (Mrs) May Iyasere.

Iyasere served as Special Adviser to Governor Okowa on Entrepreneurship Development until her death.

Family sources said she died after her blood pressure rose on Thursday at about 1a.m. in Benin.

She passed on at age 68.

Speaking to Oasis Magazine via a telephone conversation, Akpowowo described the deceased as a mother to all.

He added: “I have been receiving calls since 1a.m. from a lot of people, especially young men and women crying on the phone over her death.”

He continued: “We just lost a mother and a virtuous woman. She was a strong politician from the Orhoakpor extraction. We lost her to the cold hands of death.

She was a nice woman and does not hold back her views no matter whose horse is gored. She was not a regular politician that lies.

“She always told us that politics is not a business and urged all to get something to do alongside politics. This advice helped lots of persons within and outside the local government area.

“Our consolation is that she lived a good life,” saying that they cannot question God.

“Her loss will resonate for some time. It’s very painful,” he opined.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and that God will comfort everyone affected by the sad incidence.
