Delta Government Commends Civil Society Groups, Reiterates Commitments To Effective Partnership
Civil Society Groups in Delta State have been commended for actively promoting policies and programs that are aimed towards achieving sustainable development while maintaining cordial relationships between the government and the governed.
The appraisal was made on Wednesday, 22nd December 2021 during the “End of the Year Get Together with the Delta State Government Civil Society”, organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Delta State on Civic Engagement and Civil Society; Activist Rex Emojite Anighoro.
In an opening remark by the SSA, Activist Rex Anighoro, said the Delta State Government of Governor Okowa’s led administration has been able to establish a benchmark for civil society groups to credibly engage the government on predominant issues confronting development in the State through the Civic Engagement and Civil Society Office.

“We have continued to uphold the global perspectives of democratic governance and respect to public opinions thus making the State a criterion for emulation by other states in the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, he hinted.
“Scholars are agreed that lack of stakeholder buy-in attenuates the policy process, decreases efficiency and this, in turn, affects economic growth. This is where civil society can play a major role by contributing to greater transparency and accountability”.
Across time and space, it is believed that effectively increasing the range of participation makes for better efficiency and effectiveness in government and by extension solidifies legitimacy and it is to this effect that CSOs geared to participate actively in developmental Issues.
“As a government, we will continue to enhance transparency and accountability as well as create an enabling environment for both government and non-government organizations to thrive in success”, Rex added.
The end-of-year party which took place at Onosode Drive in Ekiugbo Ughelli was seasoned with yuletide gifts for the Civil Society Groups from the Delta State Government featuring nine lessons and carols with special ministrations from St. Cecelia Catholic Church Choir and Emmanuel Urhobo Catholic Church Choir in Ekiugbo Ughelli.
