Onyeme Frowns At Touting In DSIRS Offices In Delta

The Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Sir Monday Onyeme, has frowned at the presence of touts and their unwholesome activities around motor licensing offices across the state, describing them as criminals and their acts being unacceptable.

In a statement released in Warri the chairman warned staff who were in the habit of conniving with and encouraging touting in any form to desist from doing so to forestall severe disciplinary measures when caught.

While advising members of the tax paying public to approach the Motor Licensing Officer in charge of each station for the the service they required, the chairman warned them of the negative consequences of dealing with unauthorised and unscrupulous individuals who could defraud them in the guise of helping them, as the service would not take responsibilities for any misfortune.

The chairman further stated that the service would continue to do all within its power to block revenue leakages in the system and ensure that the internally generated revenue profile of the state continued to improve.

The statement further directed all Area Tax Controllers, Chief Inspector of Taxes and Motor Licensing Officers to continue to do everything possible to discourage the presence of touts within and outside the vicinity of their operational environment, as they would be held responsible for lapses.
