LASU, One Of The Few Universities In Nigeria With Up-To-Date Audited Financial Report –Bursar

Their mien betrayed hearts filled with joy and gratitude as Staff of the Bursary Department gathered for an end-of-the-year thanksgiving and get-together in the office of their Principal, the University Bursar, Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka, FCA, earlier on Thursday 29th December 2022.

The programme, according to Mr. Olayinka, was to appreciate God for the outgoing year, acknowledge the workers for their dedicated service, review the year 2022 activities and strategize for the coming year, 2023.

While addressing members of the department, Mr. Olayinka appreciated God for making the day a possibility and for sparing the lives of his esteemed colleagues, inspite of the fire accident that affected some offices of the Department earlier in the month.

He noted that the programme was a proof of the unity and prevalent love that exist among the staff of the department.

He said, “This gathering further confirms the unity and comradeship in Bursary Department, the dynamic and appealing ways we do our things, we are formidable; nobody can undermine us in LASU politically, socially and professionally. We have been able to produce five Bursars that have either served or are serving within and outside the University, and that is unprecedented. It shows how progressive and blessed we are.”

He gave the Department a thumbs-up for having an up-to-date audited financial report saying that the feat was uncommon: “I want to thank God for giving me the privilege to serve for a second term. It happened through your support because we believe in teamwork geared by our core values. I am also proud that the audited report of the university has been regularly prepared up-to-date. I am not sure we can get up to five public Universities in Nigeria today who have up-to-date audited financial reports and that is also due to our diligence and strong professionally based teamwork. I am so proud of this achievement.” The Bursar said.

He charged the workers to maintain the spirit of love, unity, humility and teamwork that exist among them warning against unhealthy rivalry.

Clad in uniformed white native wears and wine headgears and caps, complete with wine-coloured mufflers on which was inscribed “We Are Bursary, We Are Formidable”, the members of staff were united in offering prayers and songs of Thanksgiving to God in the two major faiths (Christianity and Islam) for the success of the year 2022.

The event also featured the presentation of awards for the Bursary Man and Woman of the Year which went to Mr. Olumide Idowu and Mrs. Adenike Adebayo of the Banking service and disbursement office, respectively. The awards were presented by a group of professionals in the department known as “The Dynamics”.

The programme also afforded members of staff the opportunity to deliver goodwill messages, most of which centered on the dynamic leadership of the Bursar, Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka, FCA and how much it has benefitted them.
