Days before his murder, a gunshot victim was reportedly brought to the hospital, according to reports, Dr Iluobe advised that they would need to provide a police report while treatment was on. The relatives are said to have insisted that the victim be treated without police notification. The patient unfortunately passed away before the procedure could start, which made the relatives furious and threatened that Dr Iluobe would be held responsible.
On the day of the attack, he was in the consulting room with a patient when suddenly the assailants came in and shot him.
When contacted on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe, said the late doctor was not murdered by the family of a patient who died in the hospital, saying the reports making the round is false.
“There is no record of any patient’s death in the hospital, however we are investigating to unravel the reason why he was murdered and also arrest the suspects.”
“A statement will follow soon,” he added.
