Stem Out Exam Malpractices In Delta Schools – NUJ Challenges Govt, Ministries Of Education

Delta NUJ Fixes Congress For May 29

By Patrick Ochei

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has called on Delta State Government to vigorously put machinery in place to stem examination malpractices in the State through the various Ministries of Education.

The Union took this position in the Communique issued after their recent Congress, where they vehemently condemned cheating in examination, especially in view of the recently concluded Common Entrance, NECO and WAEC examinations that held across the state.

In their 11-point resolution, the Union conspicuously called on the Delta State Governor to compel the various Ministries of Education to adopt stricter and stringent measures in checking examination malpractices in the state, especially in view of the just concluded Common Entrance, Junior and Senior NECO and WAEC examinations, and in tertiary institutions examinations.

The NUJ as a pressure group believes that corruption has taken the centre stage of our national life, and there is no effort to curtail it that can succeed if the children at school levels are not oriented on how to abstain from cheating in examination amongst other corruption inclined social vices.
