US Congress Pushes To Declare Miyetti Allah A Terrorist Organization, Impose Sanctions On Tinubu’s Govt.
Following spate of killings of Christians in Northern Nigeria, the United States is concluding plans to declare Miyetti Allah, a terrorist organization, according to a move being made by Rep. Chris Smith who chairs the subcommittee on Africa, Human Rights and Global Health .
Investigative journalist, Jackson Ude, who declared this in a post on X Friday, added that “Smith has already briefed U.S President, Donald Trump about the moves including citing series of killings in Northern Nigeria.”
He continued: “Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria is a Fulani advocacy group centered on promoting the welfare of Fulani pastoralists in Nigeria. The organization was founded in the early 1970s with headquarters in Kaduna.”
According to him, “the group has been linked to killings of Christians in Nigeria, according to a congressional report.”
He said: “Smith has already advised the Trump’s administration to impose harsh sanctions on Nigeria.
According to the subcommittee, Nigerians constituted 90 per cent of Christians killed worldwide annually, citing a 2024 report by the Observatory for Religious Freedom in Africa showing out of the 55,910 people killed between October 2019 and September 2023, 21,000 of them were abducted in the context of terror groups.”
