Sapele Insecurity: Comrade Umukoro Backs Police Ban On Unregistered Vehicles

Popular Urhobo youth leader, Comrade Efemena Umukoro, has expressed strong support for the police directive banning the use of unregistered vehicles in Delta State, describing it as a necessary step toward tackling insecurity in Sapele and its environs.

Umukoro made this known in a Facebook post on Monday following his participation in a high-level security meeting with the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi and other key stakeholders the state.

According to him, the meeting focused on reviewing the current security situation and identifying practical measures to curb criminal activities in the area.

He noted that one of the key outcomes of the deliberations was a renewed commitment to enforce the ban on unregistered vehicles across the state.

Umukoro revealed that investigations into the recent security incident in Sapele where the council boss, Bright Abeke was kidnapped, showed that a Range Rover allegedly used by the perpetrators had no registration plate, a development he said underscores the urgency of the directive.

He stressed that strengthening enforcement of the ban would play a significant role in improving security, as it would make it more difficult for criminals to operate undetected.

Umukoro further emphasized the need for sustained collaboration among security agencies, government officials, and community stakeholders to effectively address insecurity and safeguard lives and property in Sapele and across Delta State.
