New Delta CP Warns Against Sale, Intake Of Illicit Drugs, As Police Arrest Six In Agbor

The new Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, has warned against the sale and intake of illicit drugs in the state, as police operatives arrested six suspects and recovered suspected illicit substances from a store in Agbor.

Erale gave the warning following a raid on a store allegedly used for the sale of illicit drugs along Alegwe Street, off Owa Road, Agbor.

The operation was carried out by operatives of the Department of Operations while on routine patrol, following credible intelligence.

The six suspects arrested are Anabel Haruna, 18; Terhemen Faith, 19; Kaityo Abigail, 23; Iorkee Eunice, 26; Osomuri Emmanuel, 31; and a 15-year-old female juvenile whose identity was withheld.

The Command said a subsequent search of a vehicle linked to the suspects led to the recovery of quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol and other suspected illicit substances.

The suspects and exhibits are currently in police custody, while investigation is ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police warned that the Command would continue to identify and dismantle drug distribution networks operating across Delta State.

He noted that the proliferation of illicit drugs fuels violent crime and other forms of criminality, and directed police operatives across the Command to intensify intelligence gathering and enforcement against drug dealers and their networks.

Erale stressed that Delta State would not be allowed to become a safe haven for illicit drug trade or any form of criminal enterprise.
