COVID-19 Lockdown: Deltans Will Start Benefiting From The Food Bank Early Next Week— Aniagwu

The Commissioner of Information, Delta State, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has said that Deltans will be provided with food items from next week to cushion the effect of the sit-at-home order given to stem the to stem the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
Aniagwu disclosed this during a telephone conversation with Oasis Magazine (OM) earlier today.
You will recall that in continuation of its far-reaching proactive measures to cushion the effects of the two- week stay-at-home directive, the Delta State Government, on Monday, announced that it had established a food bank.
Committees were also set up at the state, local government, ward and unit levels to ensure that the food items got to all, especially the vulnerable in the society.
According to the Commissioner, they were still at the point of collections of food from donors, saying that food will get to the needy, people who cannot make purchase when the exercise begins next week.
Aniagwu urged residents in the state to be patient and know that the lockdown will soon come to an end.
He praised Deltans for the level of compliance and understanding, adding that the lockdown was the best option to check the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, he disclosed that market hours have been extended to between 8a.m. and 4 p.m, saying that petrol stations are to close daily by 2p.m.
This decision he said was taken because the Governor is concerned about the welfare of Deltans and is working to ensure that in spite of the fact that the situation was not caused by anybody, the effects will not be so much.
While he scored Deltans high on compliance, he noted that a few local government areas have not done well in staying away from the streets.
