Issele Uku Library Needs Attention, Says Librarian

The Delta State Library, Issele Uku, headquarters of Aniocha North Local Government Area, is said to be in a sorry state and therefore needs urgent attention.
Mrs Lauretta Aniamaka, who is the librarian stated this in a telephone chat with our correspondent, saying that the management board was aware of the situation but yet to respond to the legion of challenges facing the services of the branch.
She however appealed to the state government to assist in revamping the library to enable it continue to provide efficient services to the people in the locality
Mrs Aniamaka enumerated the challenges to include dilapidated book shelves, lack of electricity supply, outdated research materials, text books and journals.

The branch librarian also noted that the entire roof of the building was leaking uncontrollable and that the complex lacked water supply.
She affirmed that the library was built and equipped by the Issele Uku Association of Houston INC, USA in collaboration with the Atlanta and Denver chapters. and handed over to the state government on the 27th December 2008 but has never undergone any maintenance.
She opined that since the library was closer to the grass root populace there was need for regular maintenance, and furnished with relevant research materials and requisite manpower.
