DELSU Matriculates 8,646 New Intakes For 2022/2023 Session

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, on Saturday, matriculated 8,646 students who were offered provisional admission to various departments of the institution.

No fewer than 32, 016 candidates applied for admission to the institution out of which 8,646 were offered admission.

Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga, disclosed this during the matriculation ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic session at Abraka.

Giving the breakdown, he said the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Clinical Sciences and Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences got 155, 958, 88 and 1,288 new students respectively.

Professor Egwunyenga added that the faculties of Clinical Medicine, Engineering, Education, Health Sciences, Law, Management Sciences and Pharmacy got 81, 574, 1288, 78, 127, 940 and 102 me students respectively.

Continuing, he said the Faculty of Science got a total of 2193, while the Social Sciences got 764 new intakes.

He also hinted that 315 candidates were offered admission to the institution’s Continuing Education programme and 788 to the new Diploma programme, 121 to the Intensive and Part Time Programmes of the university and 88 to a special Diploma prtogramme.

Addressing the fresh students, Prof. Egwunyenga warned that any student involved in cultism, examination malpractices and other social vices would be expelled.

He described the ritual ceremony as a universal academic tradition and a requirement in higher institutions.

The matriculants were later administered to an oath.
