Ajede Calls For Multi-Stakeholder Approach On Educational Revamp At Chinonye Smile-Care Conference

The Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. C.S Possible Ajede, PhD, has called for collective, multi-stakeholder approach to revamp the educational sector even as he noted that, education is the bedrock of every progressive society that desire to achieve meaningful and sustainable development.

Barr. Ajede made this call while delivering his goodwill message at the Teachers/Parents Conference organized by the Chinonye Smile-Care Initiative, held at St. George’s College, Obinomba.

The high-profile event, tagged “Rebuilding The Fabric Of Education For Equitable Living,” brought together educators, parents, government officials, and community leaders to address critical challenges in the educational system and forge a path toward strategic and sustainable development in the sector and the society at large.

The Ukwiani Council Chairman who was represented by Mr. Augustine Ekeh in his address emphasized that education is the catalyst that this is capable of fast tracking the growth of every progressive society, emancipate a people.

According to him, the theme of the programme was both timely and relevant as it serves reminder to stakeholders that revitalizing the educational sector was a collective responsibility if the younger generation are to be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Speaking further, Barr. Ajede reiterated his administration’s continued commitment to revamp the educational sector even as he recounted ome of the efforts and various initiatives undertaken by the council to improve access to equitable and quality education in both primary and secondary schools in Ukwuani LGA.

The Ajede-led administration has prioritized the welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff of schools across the LGA; regular scholarships to Ukwuani students in tertiary institutions; regular provision of learning materials and school uniforms for pupils in public primary schools; registration of primary six (6) placement examination for pupils in all 32 public primary schools across the LGA

In a bid to keep pace with modern demands, the Ajede-led administration recently commenced the ICT and phone repair training programme for Ukwuani youth aimed at strategically equipping youths with employable and sellable skills.

Meanwhile, the Ukwuani Council Boss commended the convener of the conference, Miss Maureen Chinonye Achugbue and lauded her vision and for bringing together stakeholders to brainstorm practical solutions for the educational sector.

On his part, the Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibuogwu, represented by Dr. Michael Emeshili from the Ministry of Education, described the conference as a significant landmark in the educational story of Ukwuani LGA.

Dr. Emeshili dismissed the notion that “education is a scam,” adding that such statement is as a result of “abysmal ignorance,” even as he maintained that education remains the key to personal improvement and the progress of the society.

Earlier in her welcome address, the convener, Miss Maureen Chinonye Achugbue, explained that the conference was primarily aimed at engaging young people in self-discovery and character building, stressing that for society to grow, the core values of the educational system must be firmly put in place.

Goodwill messages were also delivered by the Ndokwa Elders Forum and the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Delta State Branch. The Ndokwa Elders Forum recommended the introduction of graded community service as part of the school curriculum from primary to university levels in Delta State to instill legacy mentalities.

On their part, the NCWS, Delta State Branch, commended the track record of the Chinonye Smile-Care Initiative and its alignment with NCWS objectives, urging students to be focused and serious with their education while calling on all parents to instill strong moral and spiritual values in their children.

In a goodwill message titled “The Heart of Mothers, Towards the Development of Education For Our Children,” delivered by Mrs. Inyama Adaeze Doris, President of the Ndokwa Women’s Association, Ukwuani Branch, the crucial role of mothers in the educational journey was highlighted, calling on government, fathers, and schools to support mothers as partners in education

The conference which featured various sessions and interactive discussions, concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among stakeholders to collectively rebuild the fabric of education in Ukwuani Local Government Area.
