BREAKING: Ijaw Nation Protests, Asks Okowa To Reverse Creation Of New Wards For Itsekiris In Warri South
There is palpable tension as Ijaws in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, particularly the people of Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri Kingdom took to the streets to protest, as they condemned the creation of new ward for the Itsekiris in the local government area, adding that this is against their interest.
The protesters with different placards marched from Olabrakopre community in Ogbe-Ijoh, particularly the main market axis down to the Warri South Secretariat.
While the protest has been peaceful, the well coordinated protest has several women, different Ijaw group leaders like Meinbutu and its federating units including youths of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.

In their various demands, the protesters have called on His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State Independent Commission (DSIEC) chairman to immediately reverse their move to ensure that the ward is created solely for the Ijaws in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
They warned that there will be no peace until the ward is created to accommodate the Ijaws in Warri South, describing the move as political marginalization taken too far.
The aggrieved protesters vowed to resist the move with the last drop of their blood.
At the time of filling this report, the protest is still ongoing.
