Onyeme Cautions Deltans On Fake Vehicle Documents

Vehicle owners plying roads in Delta State have again been urged to ensure that their vehicles were properly registered with the motor licensing office of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service closest to them to avoid running foul of the law.

The Chairman, Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Sir Monday Onyeme gave the charge in Warri while speaking with newsmen. 

Sir Onyeme, who noted that most citizens were in the habit of using touts and other unscrupulous middlemen for vehicle registration, advised vehicle owners to ensure that they took advantage of the 25 motor licensing offices located in the headquarters of each of the 25 local government areas of the state.

The Revenue Service Chairman advised citizens to “enter into the motor licensing office closest to you and request to see the motor licensing officer in charge. It is his duty to serve you and ensure that you get your genuine documents prompt.” 

The advantage of getting genuine motor vehicle documents, he said, were that citizens would be saved the embarrassment and undue delays on the highways by security agents, including the possibility of arrest and criminal prosecution for possession of forged documents and fines for causing revenue loss to government.
