Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun Matriculates 2021/2022 Set

The Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun has matriculated the set of 2021/2022 students in a grand style at the institute’s Conference Hall, PTI Road, Effurun, Delta State.

The Principal and Chief Executive of the institution, Dr. Henry A. Adimula, who gave a speech during the ceremony stated that the vision and mission of the institute had been a guiding principle for the success of the Institution.

He urged the matriculants to imbibe the same vision to succeed in their studies at the institute.

Dr. Adimula mentioned the vision of the institute as “To be the leading oil and gas technical institute in Africa” and the mission ” To provide competent technical human resources, through quality training, research and consulting for the Petroleum and allied industry.”

He mentioned the programmes of the institute under the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses which included Petroleum Engendering Technology, Petroleum and Gas Processing Engineering, Mechanical engineering Technology, Welding and Fabrication Engineering Technology and more.

The principal also stated that the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) had been introduced in the institute education system to develop, classify and recognise skills, knowledge and competence that was acquired by individuals irrespective of how it was acquired.

He explained that the NSQF was a certification system that ensured continuous training of competent hands for the oil and gas industry, stating that “the programme is to ensure a collaborative synergy between the Oil and Gas industry and the Petroleum Training Institute.”

Adimula congratulated the matriculants stating that out of 1,480 candidates who applied for the National Diploma Programmes, only 720 were offered admission, while 714 candidates applied for the Higher Diploma Programmes with only 547 candidates offered admission.

He encouraged the matriculants to be focused and determined to finish as strong as possible, explaining that the Institution, being 50 years this year, had trained over 20,000 students, many of who were stakeholders in the oil and gas industry.
