A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)Warri South Local Government chairmanship aspirant in the last local government council elections, Deacon Ejiro Ibuakevwe has advised PDP Warri Urhobo leaders on how the Warri Urhobos will be relevant and achieve their desires in the party.

This was contained in an open letter made available to the press last weekend.

Ibuakevwe who is the Oghwuvwie ( President )of Edjeba Community in Warri South Local Government Area opined that “The Urhobos of Warri seem to have been tagged ‘the wailers club’ in the politics of Warri South Local Government Area.

“Except we agree to change strategy and become politically proactive I see no change in the near future.

“We keep crying of marginalization in political appointments as it affects us in Warri South Local Government Area but we have never bothered of how to break out from this structure of political marginalization skewed in favour of the Itsekiris against Warri Urhobos.

“Until we begin to start finding answers to the “how” to turn this melodrama of the skewed nature of Warri South politics to our advantage, the end of this wailing and crying is not in view,” he added.

Ibuakevwe who is a member of the prestigious Urhobo Peoples Integrity Organization (UPIO) therefore stated that it was high time the PDP Warri Urhobos strategise by becoming a political pressure group in the party in Warri South Local Government Area.

“Our present lukewarm approach concocted in the philosophical gesture hidden under fear that the governor has the final say will only help to keep us as a group in political bondage.

“Our leaders at this critical moment need to show courage and bravery.

“They have to kill the ‘self syndrome’ and provide real representation for their people i.e We the Warri Urhobos.

“They must be told that until their people are empowered that is when they are genuinely empowered not the ‘me first mindset.”

“At this crossroad, if our leaders are not seen to be up to the task in taking the bull by the horn, then their posture should be better explained as an indictment of failure.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again with the expectation of getting a different result.

“If our desire is to see change, we must do things differently this time around,” he stated.
