DUG Chairman, Daniel Reyenieju, Calls For Strategic Readiness As 2026 Sets The Pace For Delta State, Nigeria

Rt. Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, the National Chairman of the Delta Unity Group (DUG), a prominent political think tank in Delta State, has urged the people of Delta State to brace up for the challenges and opportunities that will enable the people chart a new course for the state.

Chief Reyenieju, who made the call in a New Year message to members of the group and Deltans, said:

“Just as 2027 is pivotal to Nigeria’s renaissance, 2026, the year preceding it, is no less crucial as the trajectory of the election will be determined in 2026.

“For Deltans, it provides the opportunity to enthrone leadership at all levels that will be responsive to the yearnings of our people. It is up to us in the DUG to lead the charge in ensuring that the enhanced resources accruing to the state touch the lives of our people in a profound way.

“On behalf of the DUG, I felicitate with Deltans and urge them to gear up for the opportunities 2026 offers as the election years beckon,” Reyenieju said.

In a broader spirit of national stewardship, the Chairman emphasized that the new year requires purposeful and inclusive governance that bridges gaps between policy and practice. He noted that sustainable development in Delta State hinges on transparent leadership, accountable public institutions, and a collaborative approach that brings together diverse stakeholders—youth, women, civil society, business communities, and the traditional leadership—to craft pragmatic solutions to local and regional challenges.

Reyenieju underscored the need for deliberate investments in critical sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, security, and job creation. He urged policymakers, opinion leaders, and citizens alike to engage in constructive dialogue, cultivate trust, and uphold the highest standards of integrity as the state positions itself for a transformative decade.

To achieve these objectives, the Chairman called for strengthened civic engagement mechanisms that amplify the voices of ordinary Deltans in policy design and implementation.

In recognition of the ongoing security challenges facing Nigeria, the DUG commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic partnership with the United States government aimed at combating criminal elements and terrorism in northern Nigeria. This collaboration is crucial as it seeks to enhance security measures and restore peace in affected regions, thereby fostering an environment conducive to development and stability. The DUG believes that such international alliances are vital for addressing the complex security landscape and ensuring the safety and well-being of all Nigerians.

Additionally, the DUG extends its commendation to the Governor of Delta State for ensuring a crime-free festive season across all parts of the state.
