Police: Abraka Division Holds End Of Year Party

***Urges PCRC, Others To Do More In 2018 For Greater Police Success

Abraka Police Division, under the leadership of CSP Kpokpo Douye, has successfully hosted her 2017 ‘End of Year’ party.
The programme, which held recently at the PCRC multi-purpose hall, Divisional HQ, Abraka, had community leaders, members of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), vigilante operatives, business owners, leaders and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and staff members of Delta State University, Abraka present, as the Hausa Community were also represented.
Delivering his welcome address, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, CSP Douye, said that the programme was organised to thank God for seeing them through 2017, adding that he also put the event together to appreciate those that contributed to the peace being enjoyed in the community since he assumed office. He encouraged them to in 2018 do more of what they did in 2017 that led to the division’s success story.
He said: “Before my arrival there were lots of crisis, but things started taking shape after a while. I have continually kept my promise to make a patrol van be at every crime scene in five minutes when a distress call is put cross to us by residents.”
A one-minute silence was then observed for the late police officer who was murdered in Oria-Abraka during a suspected herdsmen attack some months ago.
Earlier on, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Odet Emo, Chairman, PCRC, Abraka Division, represented by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Davidson Edebiri, while giving the chairman’s opening speech, commended the DPO for a job well done, adding that since the new DPO took over, the community has been very peaceful.
According to him, the fact that the DPO graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, means he knows all the criminal hideouts, and thus policing the community has been an easy task for him.
In their separate goodwill messages, the President General of Oruarivie Abraka Kingdom, Chief Emmanuel Idoghor, represented by, Chief Bernard Ughwumiakpor, the President General Umiaghwa Abraka Kingdom, represented by Comr. Sunday Isah and the President General of Eku Community, Chief Jury Irikefe Ogbemudia commended the DPO and the division over the success recorded so far.
Chief Ughwumiakpor thanked CSP Douye for his commitments towards securing the community, saying that the kingdom see him (Douye) as a son of the soil.
On his part, Comr. Isah noted that the yuletide was celebrated in the area with no reports of very serious crime related offences.
Also, Chief Ogbemudia commended the DPO for the defensive and preventive policing methods that have curbed crime in the division, saying that it was obvious that the days of kidnapping, robbery and other crimes were in the past.
